This Thursday (Feb 2nd) and Friday (Feb 3rd) we’ll be celebrating the opening of “The Primrose Path”, a two artist show featuring new works by my friend and colleague Juan Muniz and Myself. As the title implies, the new works revolve around our personal understanding and interpretation of “sin”. A theme truly befitting its host city: Las Vegas.
The opening will be spread across two days:
Thursday, (Feb 2nd) will be the “soft opening” or show preview.
Friday (Feb 3rd), is turning out to be quite a spectacle. With free prints, a pop-up shop from Vegas’ own Happy Panda Toys, food catered by Slidin’ Thru, and all this coupled with the madness that is Vegas’ First Friday’s.
Both Muniz and I will be in attendance for both nights.
This is one of my first big shows outside of California, so I hope all of you who might be from the area can make it out. I’m really happy with the way the 11 paintings I created for the show came out, and I hope all of you have an opportunity to come to see the work for yourselves.
Las Vegas, Nevada, December 19, 2011 — Brett Wesley Gallery is proud to present The Primrose Path, featuring new paintings by renowned Los Angles artist, Luke Chueh and rising Las Vegas artist Juan Muniz. Opening and artist reception will be Sneak Peek Thursday, February 2, 2012, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at 1112 S. Casino Center Blvd. This event is free to the public. The exhibition will run through March 31, 2012.
This humorous and insightful series of paintings depict cartoon inspired characters wrestling with modern life situations. Chueh is notorious for his sell out shows and had been featured in museums and galleries around the world. Muniz, a local favorite, continues to gain notoriety by covering the city with his iconic bunny character.
On First Friday February 3, doors will open at 5:00 p.m. Starting at 7:00 p.m. the first 20 people in line will receive a FREE limited edition print signed by Luke Chueh and Juan Muniz.
Slidin’ Thru food truck will also be on site with special gourmet burgers named after Chueh and Muniz. In addition to the art exhibition within the gallery, Happy Panda Toys will sell vinyl and designer toys from Luke Chueh and many other artists. After you’ve had your fill, walk across the street to Artifice Bar & Lounge and try The Primrose a wicked cocktail guaranteed to lead your astray on Sneak Peek Thursday and leave you wanting more on First Friday.
This sounds awesome! If you just happen to be in Vegas tomorrow, you should definitely check that out!
Daily Dujour visited Luke Chueh’s studio to discuss the show with him. You can find the article with many great pictures here.
